This movie was so much fun!
And then it gets sad .·°՞(っ-ᯅ-ς)՞°·.
This was a blind buy.
It’s not a high energy action movie, this is more slice of life, and I loved that.
It does drag a tiny bit in the middle, but I had a great time watching this.
Wonderful cinematography too. Will definitely watch more from Shinji Sômai.

I'm a big fan of Sukeban Deka, and I've spent a lot of time getting into the many different partially or fully analogous pieces of media, now including this particular film.
This movie is funny as shit. Astonishingly, Hiroko is crucified before she ever picks up the machine gun. She ends up forming all these really sweet bonds with all the guys in the family she's been put in charge of, but several of them are murdered by other families. Hiroko's Izumi, of course, has an unbeatable positivity to her, and after repeated betrayals, killings, and other mishaps, she still tries to think the best of people, and she still worries about their wellbeing.
The movie does get pretty sad at some points as her gang is shot down one after another, until the finale when there's only one man remaining. It's a really somber scene when she disbands the family. Even more somber when she learns about Sakuma's death.
I liked it for what it is, which is usually really funny, occasionally very heartfelt, and almost never an action film, despite the bombastic poster. Now I'm gonna watch the first episode of the TV show, where I bet she's blasting suckers inside of episode 1.
I came back to edit this review's rating to accurately reflect the hyperbole of my appreciation for this movie. Sorry, I really like the premise, execution, cinematography, music, acting, plot, etc.
