So fun, chic, smart and sexy justice for George Lazenby! This movie was such a breath of fresh air after the Connery movies. It was everything I was hoping the classic bonds would be.

Moneypenny remains one of the best characters in the series and the glue to the MI6 family <3 Bond resigning just to get two weeks off was the perfect little tantrum to establish the familial dynamic with M I love them.Blofeld and Bonds intelligent back and forth walking the line of fun campiness and high stakes action is everything the Bond movies should be. With a strong and complicated love interest and fun and unique female antagonists, Lazenbys chemistry was both flirty and emotional when it needed to be.

I try to put my 60s goggles on when I watch the classics and look past some things that age poorly, but I truly believe that something that divides the truest characterizations of Bond from the others is Bonds appreciation of women. A womanizer and as sexist as a typical man, of course, the character of James Bond is a protector and an appreciator of fine and impressive things. Something Connery's Bond lacked completely was an ounce of admiration for ANY woman in front of him regardless of their skills or contributions. Bond watches Tracy, smart, quick and fearless, literally drive them to safety in a bad ass car chase and we get to watch him fall in love. This is my FAVORITE original so far the emotional beats actually hit and the fight scenes are so much better. G.L's James Bond is the charming sassy man on a mission that made me love the Craig series as well. His choices added a vulnerability to Bond that was missing before and Tracy's character was a welcome change of depth in the series. <33

Diana Riggs character is a revolutionary Bond Girl, stubborn, intelligent and saves the day more than once. She was the first to prove Bond could be more than a bachelor. That amazing cylindrical clinic house on the top of the alps was a haven of mid-century architecture.

This movie is fucking nuts. It’s both serious and silly. It’s both chaotic and controlled. It’s both great and underwhelming. But most importantly, it is one of the best Bond movies that I have ever seen and is a true change of pace in terms of the series as a whole. You Only Live Twice was very silly in my opinion and that’s not entirely a bad thing but at the same time it’s not quite my cup of tea. So, when I watched this, I was surprised to see how mature it was, how grounded it was, and how different Bond acted. George Lazenby’s Bond gets married for crying out loud!!! And the women aren’t treated as terribly as they usually are in Bond movies. Bond’s love interest, Tracy, saves him near the end of the movie which is fantastic to see!!! Speaking of Lazenby, I really like his performance. I know he gets a lot of hate for it and I’m not disagreeing that Connery is a better Bond, but Lazenby’s performance is a lot more nuanced than Connery’s ever was and there’s just something about his ability to be both confident and relatable that is oh so beautiful. This is a Bond that the audience can actually connect to. He has a certain humanity to him. He actually seems to have emotions in terms of love and life as a whole. Even though this is a much more nuanced movie than the other 60s Bond movies, it still has its silly moments. The general plot, which is about women who are brainwashed by SPECTRE to spread a disease across the globe, is truly absurd. Bond also wears some silly ass outfits (I’m looking at you kilt). Even some of the action sequences are just so overly ridiculous but are insanely awesome at the same time. I couldn’t get enough of the ski chase scene and the bobsleigh sequence near the end. The amount of cuts, the amount of angles, the snow, the speed, the adrenaline, ITS SIMPLY ASTONISHINGLY SPECTACULAR!!!! This movie has got some of the best action sequences in a movie period. I love that Peter R. Hunt directed this because he’s an editor and so he made sure to use that experience to make a crazy ass movie that is constantly moving and constantly going from one thing to the next. The music is great too and I adore the cinematography. There’s a certain purple look to the whole thing that warms my heart. Speaking of purple, that opening title sequence is amazing. Overall, great movie that is most definitely the most underrated Bond film.
