Dehumanization for the promise of a lost love. 

Ultimately a painful watch. I thought it’d at least be a little more artful and easy in the eyes (what irony). Sam is just a little bit too naive and annoying. 

The original short story “Skin” by Roald Dahl and the living work “Tim” by Wim Delvoye granted me more emotion in the 5 minutes it took to read about them than the 2 hour movie.

Also, 10 weeks into the semester and this is the first programmed film directed by a woman 😀

This movie’s premise is that a Syrian refugee named Sam Ali has now become a living, breathing piece of collectible art. The artist who designed and constructed Sam Ali into a piece of art is an artist renowned for his ability to turn worthless things into heavily desired pieces of art. So here, we have a man turning this refugee into a piece of art and it’s kinda fucked up that he is right. This movie really has exposed some of humankind’s uglier details.

Do you know what's worse than being part of the system? It's being ignored by it. This was a fucking masterpiece I'm completely speechless.
