I like many others like Clint Eastwood. He's an effortlessly cool actor and (at times) great director. Undoubtedly a talented man, his filmography Dosent always reflect that fact. Many of his movies are more or less entertaining action/thriller movies. This one definitely being in the less department.
The Rookie has some aweful dialogue, uninteresting story and a pretty uninspired performance by Charlie Sheen. However it also has Clint Eastwood, Raul Julia and Tom Skerritt, all of whom are great. It also features some pretty decent action band ugly cars. Yeah its not great.
It has every cliche it can fit and is a couple of minutes too long and none of the good actors have enough screentime, but it's still kinda entertaining. Unless you really like any of the actors, this is not a movie you need to prioritize watching.
