They could never make me hate David DeCoteau. His films are rarely of high quality and yet every single one is fun in their own right. Dull does not exist in his vocabulary. While Dr. Alien is a standard geek to chic story, the addition of an extraterrestrial sexual magnetism serum gives it that classic 80s T&A sleaze. It’s an excuse to have bare flesh on screen and DeCoteau’s way of just flashing it up on screen is quick and doesn’t overstay its welcome. It’d be great if the cool visual effects of the weird penis-appendage antennae was more prevalent along with the makeup effects of the titular Dr. Alien. The story just sort of ping-pongs around, but that’s totally fine in my books as long as things keep going somewhere, if anywhere
