why the hell did that one girl go inside the shredder and came out as square guts with a coil pointing out?
the main reason i wanted to watch this film : is it contains the actor of frankenhooker!! and also this just seems like a really over the top 80s slasher trash (which it is) the story is fairly simplistic, a disfigured man chases a group of teenagers and chops them up for fun. i’m a massive fan of B movies, i love the over the top nature and the blend of comedy plus horror, the plots ridiculous and has some intentionally bad moments of humour, but this all adds to its charm overall. this film was seriously camp, none of the characters even talk like humans, all the actors seem like they’ve never met a camera in their life and i mean they probably haven’t, this film just lacks logic aswell., like yes let’s just hand out at an abandoned asylum for fun?? i guess these characters were written like aliens but i think aliens know atleast to go anywhere else? the humour is actually terrible, but it’s ironically hilarious,, like tina’s laugh was just so forced and it made me laugh each time. the low production value may put some off, but the practical effects are genuinely amazing, like yes we got graphic kills gore and a used condom!! my life is fulfilled, i think the main reason i love this film is the gore.. it just squirts out its victims, some get their faces burnt to the pount yoü can see their skull and others have their head drilled in.. either way it makes some eargasmic killing sequences. i also love how this film balances gore and suspense - it’s clearly more focused on gore but there’s some really effective camera shots which reminded me a little of halloween - the disfigured man slowly walks to his victims, very ominous. i just love how this film just doesn’t give a fuck! character development or depth? fuck no BLOOD! with that being said the tina tots were cunty characters! tina ate in the third act and then turned into a block.. yikes. i also love the setting of an abandoned asylum, really under-utilised in horror. i can definitely understand the 2.6 rating, there’s no real plot, no character development and a reliance on gore. but i’m giving in a 3.5 because i had fun and that’s all that matters!
