The Skywalker Legacy

There was so much work put into the making of this film that I kinda feel bad for dragging Rise of Skywalker as much as I do. J.J. Abrams was put in an almost impossible situation, and it seemed like everyone was at least having a good time on set. There were actually super talented people who worked their asses off to make a good Star Wars film, it's just a shame the script wasn't better.

see this is what i don’t understand, you go through all the trouble of making a giant mechanical worm with multiple puperteers controlling it so it looks as lifelike as possible, and it looks amazing (as amazing as a giant worm can look like), just to replace it with a CG version??? 

jj abrams spend so much energy on things that seem so insignificant to the overall story of the movie, like the desert celebration scene, instead of focusing on writing a better script.

the john williams cameo??? the keeper of the scores himself omg and the poor guy was talked into it by his wife lmao

this making-of could’ve benefited from more of adam driver like hearing his thought process behind his portrayal of kylo ren/ben solo is really fascinating

1. The Skywalker Legacy is a better title than The Rise of Skywalker. 
2. It’s hard not to judge this based off my hate for the actual film. But I did my best.
3. The crew did an amazing job on this film. From the acting, to set design, stunts, artwork, just its all amazing and just further reminds me why I love film. Daisy Ridley and Adam Driver were perfect for their roles and to lead this trilogy. They truly gave it their all. 
4. It’s clear that while I do think JJ made an excellent first chapter to this trilogy, and I think Rian made a good film, none of the writers and directors brought on for this trilogy truly understood Star Wars. Kasdan would be the exception.  They aren’t bad filmmakers but they are lifelong fans of the original trilogy that wanted to play in that sandbox. But to make an episode 7, 8, and 9 you needed to fully understand the entire saga which guess what includes the prequels no matter if you liked them or not.

I’m not someone who hates the sequel trilogy but I am disappointed by it. When you look at what Favreau is doing with The Mandalorian you see what should have been done with this trilogy. And I’m not talking about characters or replacing Kennedy or any of that nonsense. Favreau is a lifelong fan of the original trilogy too but he understands Star Wars and he has Filoni there who was basically George’s apprentice. We’ve seen with two seasons of that show and the other stuff that Filoni has done that they respect the past while telling new stories. 

Enough of my rant though, overall, this was a solid documentary and I loved seeing the excitement from the cast and crew. I love Star Wars and I love movies.

Si hay algún problema con este documental es que desearías que durara 10 horas para poder ver cada pequeño detalle de la película y que sus responsables te lo pudieran contar.

Aún así hacen un gran trabajo metiendo en 2 horas todos los aspectos que componen el film. Saben elegir muy bien la escena con la que contarte algo sobre un nuevo equipo de la producción y cómo ha llevado a cabo su aporte al conjunto.
A pesar de ello algunas escenas importantes se quedan fuera y hubiera estado bien buscar algo que contar sobre ellas aunque se quedara más largo el docu.

Pero no todo es apartado técnico, Debs reserva una parte importante de metraje a las personas que son el alma de la película y no faltan los testimonios que te hacen conectar con los protagonistas, el director o los guionistas (aunque a mi parecer cada vez que habla Terrio parece que se eche un poco más de mierda encima).

Por otro lado, la utilización de material documental de la trilogía original aporta momentos sentidos y que conectan las nueve producciones bajo los mismos valores de trabajo duro, cariño y mimo hacia una historia que ha marcado generaciones.

Como siempre, si quieres ver que la gente ama su trabajo y que ponen todo su empeño en hacer buenas películas, es necesario ver este tipo de documentos.
