For my first Sion Sono film, GODDAMN. This was definitely something and it's the most unexpected shit ever. The character development is really unique and I don't know how it feel about it because I rarely see that change within main characters. The concept is interesting and how it plays out is just fucking wild. Ngl, I don't think I'm ready for Suicide Club (2001) after seeing this, I REALLY need to prepare. Oh my goodness, the gore is just insane and in the last 20 minutes is just the most brutal shit ever. The story was good, loved how it increasingly becomes unexpectedly shocking the more it progresses. The main character is so relatable to be in his kind of situation, I literally had the same reaction as him during the gory scenes. I mostly didn't enjoy the sexual assault content that was happening in the film and the fact it got progressively worst is a red flag for me. I also didn't enjoy how it seemed like every character is just pessimistic and nihilistic, like it's some hellish fever dream I'm watching. I wish there was more bonding time within the main character's family because I was more interested in the family drama than the actual disturbing mystery taking place. It's still very solid tho. Cold Fish is a brutal, suspenseful, nightmarish film that'll make you scared of your own family
