By the late 80s the slasher genre was already past its prime, but there are some gems from this era, better than some of the movies the big franchises were releasing, especially in 1989. Rush Week is one of these examples.
It is not doing anything new, doesn’t breaking any mold, but it is playing right by the slasher rules, we have a whodunit, a likeable final girl and side characters, some red herrings, the fashion is really late 80s, fun soundtrack, and the killer’s look and weapon is great, it is lacking in the gore department, they built good set pieces for the killing but then they just cut and we are not able to see anything, and the killer is also very predictable, but the slashers from the 80s always where.
Anyway this I am slasher hidden gem, and now one of my late 80s favourites

I love a good ol’ final girl circuit! The amount of male eye candy here needs to be studied. Just wish the kills were better.

it was a pretty decent watch ngl it had me at first with the frat dude being the killer but then the twist at the end made me realize that it would have been so obvious if it was the frat dude who was the killer
