Cheerful Mimiko has a wonderfully strange family—a Panda for her Papa; and his son Panny, calls her Mom! When Panny follows Mimiko to school, he must pretend to be a teddy bear so Mimiko won't get into trouble. Despite his efforts to behave, Panny causes trouble in school and now the school is after Panny! Then, Panny makes a new friend, Tiny, a baby tiger who's wandered off from the circus.

Panda! Go Panda!
At one point in this film the panda says he has to be a good poppa and go to work, until he’s reminded by a 6 year old girl that he’s a panda and does not in fact work

This movie is absolutely packed to the brim with character. The movie does such an amazing job capturing all those features that we will see in future Ghibli’s whether its the strong female role, whimsiness, plot structure, or incredibly fun characters, there able to throw so little, yet so much content at you for such a short run time. Really nothing bad to say about it, obviously there not much actual structure to it, its missing a lot of the basic characteristics of a strong movie, but for the first entry of any Ghibli director, it sure hits the mark and sets up one of the greatest lines of movies to date. I also just wanna say that the ending is amazing, I love how they close all the parallels after the climax and actually give them the most perfect ending possible, just wow.
