Holy fucking peak
People tend to focus on the anti-China aspect of the film but ignore that it shows British police indiscriminately gunning down Chinese (not Hong Kong) citizens
Half a star deducted for besmirching the image of Lei Feng and also stupid voices

Research day
So I’m getting tired of the 1 film from each area format so I’m now trying to curate each research day by actor, genre or director. This weeks curation: the birth of Gun-Fu
This is credited as the film that invented the sub genre and in all honesty, other than crime and guns, it doesn’t add a ton to the genre as a whole. It’s thrilling and has good dialogue but it doesn’t have the style that John Woo would later invent.75/100

Pretty good. Some awesome moments of action and some not-so-awesome character and plot building. Overall, worth the watch. Kinda reminds me of Heat or The Town.
