Manhattan is a good movie that certainly should have been a huge fucking red flag regarding Woody Allen. Probably one of the biggest in film history next to the classroom scene from Annie Hall. Oh, wait...

While I do like Blue Jasmine better, Manhattan's style and screenplay makes this one of my favorites of his. It's pretentious, but there is a charm to it in how the characters interact with Allen's character.

It's pretty awkward and funny, depicting art and relationships and how they intersect in order to elaborate on the characters.

If you can shake the slimy feeling of watching a nonce at work there is a well directed, very well acted, mostly well written very pretentious film here

There’s a big glaring issue with this film and it’s so hard to ignore 
People say to separate the art from the artist , especially with artists such as Woody Allen. But it is so hard to separate the art from the artist when the artist puts his deeply rooted flaws into his art.
Woody Allen the pedophile writing and playing another pedophile 

Ignoring Woody Allen’s pretentious piece of shit character that he plays in every film, you see great performances from Diane Keaton and Meryl Streep, you see an amazing score with great costuming, and you see a cinematic piece of work.
It’s a good film overall, it’s just quite difficult to get in to being completely honest.
