deserving of its praise. you gotta love it when one of those classically touted films actually holds up
this thing hits the ground RUNNING. i teetered on the edge of the couch for the entirety of this movie — hearing my friends assurances that this was indeed a banger while also balancing that with a very hard 5am alarm the next day
… but sure enough i’m in the same spot 2 hours later, so glued to my half-cheek perch that i seriously delayed getting up to pee
breakneck pace banger
surprisingly, my least favorite parts of this movie all have to do with the film’s “main message”, which, if i’m understanding it correctly, is pretty uninteresting. i’d rewrite the entire final scene and cut the visit to the retired colleague. i get that that’s the point — tommy lee jones representing the titular old man — but really the “chaos and principled methodical violence” schtick doesn’t do it for me. i’m uninterested completely in any point underneath — he’s a horror movie villain. that’s fine — i love horror — but cmon we don’t gotta pretend this is all that deep
this movie rips because it’s fast, has banger dialogue, and fun characters. it’s well made
and yes, you’ll like it even if you absolutely hated fargo (like me)
