KCFF 2021 Film 4/14
If I didn't know that the four actresses in this were professional swimmers acting in their first film, I would have been super surprised. Katerine Savard and Ariane Mainville were especially good. The latter has a scene at the end of the film that I've seen more experienced actresses in similar situations fail.
Savard is excellent, and really takes over the screen. She and her other three main co-stars (Mainville, Hilary Caldwell and Cailin McMurray) try their best to elevate the movie. It feels very slow and while I am usually not deterred by slow films, this one felt like it was dragging.
It's beautifully shot, and has great editing (that opening scene is very beautiful), and the sound editing was especially well done. Along with the great performances, the techs couldn't elevate this enough for me.
