Massacre Mafia Style

A failed character study. With an uninteresting character written to be a man that’s trying to find his new and profound place in a world that he’s lived in but since lost in touch with (the world being the U.S.). Overall, it just comes down to poor writing. It’s like he’s trying to write a script that garners the same empathy effect that the Godfather films execute.

It’s like the director is so obsessed with him being the star that he forgets to write anything remotely interesting about everyone else. Plain wannabe Shakespearean mob monologues try to act as if it’s an intellectual look on how this type of society is a way of survival so it’s inevitable to be apart of to live. Weak excuses for empathic moves on the viewers as it gives us no time to care or give a shit about whatever is happening. 

I think this could’ve done way better as an extreme and nonsensical bloodbath of guns and bullets horror galore. It’d definitely live up to the title as well as give the visuals more of a punch.

“Good bad” with the requisite stilted, ridiculous line readings and technical/budgetary shortcomings that are pretty funny. It’s also got a point to make and, like the best exploitation flicks, has a weird authenticity bordering on verite. Makes you want to eat and drink wine. The racial dynamics are... uh, yeah it’s complicated and there’s ambivalence/contradictions that have to be intentional but it’s still not great. Exploitation of a certain era, so go in knowing that.
