um dos primeiros grandes longas metragens do cinema, com uma das melhores representações visuais do inferno que eu já vi!
sobretudo é um filme de aventura, onde acompanhamos cada punição diferente do inferno, assim como no livro (que infelizmente ainda não li). e é bem interessante ver as representações que fizeram, com efeitos práticos sensacionais, e uma composição de cena fenomenal, parecendo pinturas renascentistas as vezes.
chega a ser aterrorizante até hoje, lembro de ter visto a cena do Lúcifer quando criança num vídeo sobre evolução do cinema, e a imagem daquele demônio mastigando o corpo de Brutus ficou tempos na minha mente. isso mostra como o filme, em grande parte, envelheceu bem. só acho que deu uma envelhecida na questão da narrativa, onde parece que o filme só joga os versos do livro na tela e depois os representa, mas não é algo que me irritou nem nada.
um grande clássico, o possível primeiro grande terror do cinema e que ainda mantem a fortíssima poesia do clássico de Alighieri.

Honestly, this movie was quite terrifying, just no clear plot whatsoever. The production (shooting locations, costumes, makeup) was amazing. The special effects were also incredible, especially considering how old the film is. Exploring the 9 circles of hell and seeing the different tortures was fascinating yet chilling at the same time, really made me feel uneasy throughout the whole runtime. Great adaptation as well, really liked the included quotes from the poem. I can’t imagine the shock of seeing this film for the first time in 1911.

Oh my god. This is so incredible, brilliant, so fucking ahead of it's time this is awesome I can't really put it into words how much I loved this. The story is amazing; has some great elements of love, friendship, betrayal. The visual side is so good, I can't even understand how this film can look so realistic while some grotesque bullshit things going on in the screen in a time like that. Everybody on this acts like they're in a film, not in a theater for the first time unlike the other films that i've watched on my journey that i watch films chronologically that interests me. Political/historical referances are so brilliant, think about it, you write a poem about hell and put every person that you don't like or don't agree politically to the hell and write about them being tortured in your own fantasy world. The philosophy, religion, everything is so well written and portrayed. The world building is incredible and so detailed. To see huge amount of the media affected by this masterpiece, I thought that somebody needs to make a Divina Commedia adaptation sometime. Maybe I could do it, who knows. Anyways it was a fun watch even for me (A gen-z that has attention problems and doomscrolls all day.) so I think this could be enjoyable for everyone. Im giving it a strong 4,5 to a light 5. The first 20 minutes was perfect but it downgraded for me that's why I am giving it a 4,5.
