Always nice to see Hollywood legends ham-ing it out in straight to VHS horror sequels.

By now there is not plot, there is no continuity and there isn't even any Christmas. Mickey Rooney is here so let's be happy about that.

Ok... so there's a couple things to like about this sequel. It's definitely better than 3 and 4. This film brings back the Christmas theming which was missing from the last 2 sequels. The ending is just so weird and over the top that it actually makes it really fun to watch. Guy standing in line has a Re-animator shirt and right after a girl asks Santa for bride of Re-animator on tape. Film gets a point for that alone. I appreciate how much this film stands out compared to the rest of the films and the idea to make the fifth installment this fucked up version of Pinocchio. The film starts pretty slow but everything after the babysitter scene is just so entertaining. Which is probably like the last 40 minutes. That's really about it though. I know it sounds like I'm hyping it up but it's still a pretty hard watch. Watching the toys attack people was pretty entertaining but definitely could've been done a lot better. Mickey Rooney Is in this film which is pretty funny considering he protested heavy when the first silent night deadly night came out.
Watching an interview with Brian Yuzna (director of 4 and producer/co-writer of 5) I'm definitely glad he chose to make this film a Christmas film after hearing he fought so hard to make 4 a Non-Christmas movie. Unfortunately like 4 though, the film has a ton of great ideas but ultimately ends up being a bit of a mess. For Brian Yuzna to call his own movie weird. It's gotta be like really weird lol
