The infamous film known widely for the prop debacle that resulted in the loss of Halyna Hutchins. The movie is finally released after years of lawsuits and finishing the film. The result of the movie is pretty mediocre but it is clear that Hutchins’ cinematography is one of the bright spots. I was unfamiliar with her work in the past, Time Cut (2024) being the only other movie in her filmography that I’ve seen, but she really made this western look and feel like a western. RIP Halyna Hutchins.
As for the remainder of the movie, it’s just alright. I think Baldwin and Fimmel are both good if not great in their roles. I actually really like the general premise of the plot, but the problems arise due to pacing issues. The filler moments are sloggish and have you bored. The gunfights are electric and a lot of fun, but outside of that it leaves you wanting more.
This isn’t bad by any means and I’m happy that the movie could finally be released to the public no matter how tragic the production could have been.
