What a show. I have so much to say about Peaky Blinders. I have spent nearly all of May watching this amazing show and I am quite sad that it has inevitably ended. Almost everything about this show was perfect from the outstanding acting to the breathtaking cinematography. The music was also AWESOME, I loved the use of rock, especially Radiohead and David Bowie. I loved all the slow motion scenes where Thomas Shelby walks through a factory smoking a cigarette and there are flames going off in the background and there is a British rock song playing, it’s truly peak television. I cannot express how much I adored Cillian Murphy’s performance as the infamous Tommy Shelby. Helen McCrory was also fantastic as Polly and I was very sad to learn that she passed away (both in real life and in the show) recently, may her soul rest in peace. Paul Anderson also delivered an unforgettable performance as Arthur. There was also a vast amount of great actors throughout the series such as Adrien Brody as Luca Changretta in Season 4, Anya Taylor-Joy as Gina Gray in Seasons 5 and 6, and Sam Neill as Inspector Campbell in the first two seasons of the show (I FUCKING HATE HIM, I WAS SO HAPPY WHEN POLLY KILLED HIM) However, my absolute FAVORITE character has got to be ALFIEEEEEEEE SOLOMONS!!!!! He stole the show in EVERY single scene he was in, Tom Hardy is such a great actor. I was sooooooo happy when he made a surprise appearance in the finale!!!!!! Anyway, I think my favorite season was definitely Season 4 followed closely by Season 2. I just loved the entire storyline involving the Italians and I thought Adrien Brody was FANTASTIC. As for Season 2, it was a huge roller coaster of emotions and had so much going on. The last episode of Season 2 was ASTOUNDING and is definitely one of my favorite episodes of the show. I loved how every season had some sort of twist, every single one left me SHOOK. The twist in the finale of the entire show quite literally made my jaw drop. I also LOVEDDDD the ending of Season 5 when Tommy had a fucking gun to his head and was ready to end it all, it really showed how crazy he had gotten. I honestly feel really bad for Lizzie though, Tom was pretty cold and unaffectionate toward her. There was just so much death, so much smoking, so much drinking, and so much pain in this show. Tommy and the Peaky Blinders went through so much shit and it’s crazy to see how deep, depressing, and different the show gets as it goes on. I do think the earlier seasons were definitely better and offered more of that classic Peaky Blinders feel. You had all the characters, you had the iconic RED RIGHT HAND theme song at the beginning of every episode, and the storylines were a lot more simple. However, season 5 and 6 are very messy and dig really deep into the characters, which isn’t a bad thing, it just could’ve been handled a lot better in my opinion. Season 6 is especially very depressing and left me in complete and utter shambles. I cannot go on without mentioning how shook and sad I was when Grace died in season 3 :( It seemed like Tommy was finally happy and then, poof, it got taken away from him. However, I was very happy when Michael died. He honestly thought he could kill Thomas Shelby that easily??? But yeah, this was a great show that had SO MANY twists and turns. I am overwhelmingly excited for the movie that will HOPEFULLY come out next year!
