With a fist full of credit cards, a lucky run at the horse track, and a title that called to mind a certain French film star, Franco Stevens launched the best-selling lesbian lifestyle magazine ever published, connecting her community in an unprecedented way. AHEAD OF THE CURVE is a new feature documentary about the extraordinary woman who started Curve magazine, and by doing so helped accelerate the political and social evolution of the nation.

Lesbian representation in the 90s is always so interesting to learn about as someone who was not apart of it. I’m so glad that so much more progress has been made but I feel like that sense of community and identity has faded for better or for worse. I liked the point made about how people don’t like the word lesbian because it’s the only one that is ours and completely excludes men from the conversation.

Franco Stevens detailed thirty motorcycles to get her history making magazine out there and I played 4-8 hours of Animal Crossing today.
