I’ve been meaning to watch this Wiseman feature for a while now, I’ve finally gotten round to it and it was a beautiful experience. I find it fascinating how Wiseman’s camera always seems almost non-existent in the real world, he’s never acknowledged or noticed by anyone but he’s always observing in a very simple but informative way. His lack of narration also adds onto this peaceful atmosphere, he lets the visuals and scenes breath and gives the viewer freedom to interpretation. This particular feature was focused on the often idyllic but sometimes chaotic life of New York’s Central Park, Wiseman showcases all the various events and activities that happen around the park while also giving an insight into the deeper maintenance of the park, with various committees and meetings on how the park should be treated and what should happen with it. If anything this documentary is an incredibly relaxing experience, something that takes you away from your own life and puts you right into the hustle and bustle of Central Park.
