I went in with low expectations and it didn’t even reach those.
When a film says “based on true events” you expect it to be good, or somewhat good. It’s not difficult, you’re making a film based on something that has happened so the story can’t be bad or anything like that.
But this was, very similar to Utah Cabin Murders.
The difference with this is that the events it’s based on aren’t even one hundred perfect correct. It’s not certain whether there was a murderer or anything, it has never been found out. So they are sort of going off false or no information.
The way they executed this film was just wrong in every way. It was just such a slow, slow, depressingly slow build up to not a very big ending.
I will say that the gore they had at the end was good, but it’s a shame that they wasted whoever’s talent that was on such a rubbish movie.
There was barely any character development, you couldn’t connect with the characters at all, so when they finally did die at the end, you felt absolutely no remorse for them.
At the end I had to remind myself that it was based on true events, but the lack of care that went into the film makes you forget that.
It’s a shame that they repeatedly keep making this based on true events films, being unfaithful to the true story and just making a joke out of the real people’s lives, which it’s unfair and shouldn’t be allowed at all.
I will say the only reason I did watch this was for Amadeus Serafini, and it was a waste of time really as he was only in it at the very end, and you could only see half of his face for whenever he was on screen. I don’t even think he spoke either.
They advertised Crispin Glover to be in this, which he was, but barely. I think he never appeared more than half a face for longer than a second in each shot he was in, just a waste of time of him showing up really, but I bet he got a payed a nice sum for basically doing nothing.
It just sempt like they got a big name for the cover, based it on true events, attempted a quick cash in and ended up with a Tubi flop.
