“What a laugh! Thirty years of raising hell!”
Holy SHIT this is a good ass movie. I only know about this because of the 2002 remake but I wanted to check out the original before watching the remake and damn am I glad I did. This shit is like a rollercoaster it just gets more and more insane and you’re telling me this shit is based off a real guy? Jesus I feel like I’m watching Bronson again 😭
Super violent, super entertaining, relentless crazy ass protagonist, great score, great camerawork, and a very engaging story that is somehow all told in only an hour and a half and keeps you locked in the entire time. This is an incredible movie and I’m very excited to see what the remake offers cause I loved this.

Could never fully get into this, the style of the film was interesting but I never got engaged with the story itself. I’ve never watched Asian action movies before so maybe I’m missing something but this wasn’t my cup of tea.

Thought I had snagged the Miike one but this was a happy accident. This one is awesome.
“Shithead asshole fucks everything up” stress endurance by way of new wave yakuza flick. Just as you’re getting real tired of him being shitty to women, he gets TB and starts shooting junk. Things only get worse. Not an easy watch.

I love a 70s gangster flick and it was cool to see the different techniques used but MAN the main guy sucks so bad. He shoulda been shot twenty minutes in.
It is perhaps not a universally enjoyable experience to see a man destroy his life and the lives of others around him, but if you like gangster/yakuza movies then I’d check it out.
Now I would love to read about the allegedly real guy this movie was based on but I don’t know if that’s readily available in English!
