The definitive documentary on the history of nudity in feature films from the early silent days to the present, studying the changes in morality that led to the use of nudity in films while emphasizing the political, sociological and artistic changes that shaped that history. Skin will also study the gender inequality in presenting nude images in motion pictures and will follow the revolution that has created nude gender equality in feature films today.

it’s fun when they intermediately stop talking about the dramatic tug of war in American social politics to just say- “oh yeah and the Europeans were just doing their own thing during all this”

Skin: A History of Nudity in the Movies
no substance whatsoever.no real discussion of anything important. not a single mention of the male gaze. it’s not even informative on a historical basis. it’s an extremely excessive list of different examples of nudity with zero engagement on what any of it means or any thoughts on how it effects the people participating or watching.

there is like 15 seconds where two actresses acknowledge how audience reaction affected them negatively BEFORE THEY CUT BACK TO MINDLESSLY LISTING OFF NUDE SCENES AND DONT GIVE IT ANY MORE ATTENTION.

AND THEN, literally the last two minutes of the movie are like, now things are changing bc the me too movement and it’s sorta necessary but sorta lame.

god what an awful piece of filmmaking. completely garbage from a technical aspect too.
