It has his loads of charm but it is pretty uneventful to say the least, there is no material to work with here. An overly present divorce story that serves as the spine for our characters development leads the film and it isn’t interesting by any form. If there were an attempt of slowly revealing some mystery, I would have love the slow burn pacing but there is none. Was the twin reveal scene meant to be a twist ? It was shot like one but as if we didn’t know that already. It’s a little unfortunate that the desert eerie western atmosphere was used for that because the locations and set pieces were so refined, the overall look of the movie was also gorgeous, very vibrant. And what a showdown at the end, it was painfully misdirected for the actors… too bad.

Death Valley has an ambitious premise with some genuinely tense moments, especially towards the end. However, it never reaches the highs of other road horror films like The Hitcher or Joyride.
