toyoda’s approach here is loud, angry, and almost entirely devoid of subtlety. there was massive potential, i think; but while i didn’t hate it, it never quite crossed the threshold into being truly 'good' for me.
it had some incredible standout scenes, but sadly, they weren’t nearly enough to carry the whole film. i really wanted to love this more than i did.
still, i think it's definitely worth a watch.
