Examines the often overlooked, yet insidious issue of voter suppression in the United States in anticipation of the 2020 presidential election. With the perspective and expertise of Stacey Abrams, the former Minority Leader of the Georgia House of Representatives, the film offers an insider’s look into laws and barriers to voting that most people don’t even know is a threat to their basic rights as citizens of the United States.

I had no idea how fundamentally broken the US democratic system truly is, no wonder Trump got elected.

Feels a bit safe in its presentation, but I learned a fair amount (which is what a documentary should do) so I can't say it was time wasted.

“Horrible... no such thing as voter suspension.”

“I think I’ll just grab my therapy dog Pelosi and go cry in the corner to heal my my wounded psyche”

“... but this is all about why Stacy didn’t win and blamed it on voter suppression. Mail in voting will work because it brings too much corruption”

“This is one more reason why no one trust the media. Another media propaganda film from Amazon trying to cloud the election in Georgia. What’s amazing is some of the counties that Stacy Abrams won had more votes for her than actual residents.”

- 1 star IMDb review of this movie from people who clearly didn’t actually watched this documentary.

All In: The Fight for Democracy
( NEW YORK FILM FESTIVAL 2020 : FILM #2 )

There is nothing more unfortunate than the coincidental showing of this movie tonight and the passing of a titan of upholding democracy in the United States, Ruth Bader Ginsburg. RIP.

Stacey Abrams became the poster-woman for voter suppression in 2018 when she narrowly lost the gubernatorial election in one of the closest elections in Georgia history to challenger Brian Kemp.

The storytelling of the systematic oppression of races and sexes is top notch. The guest speakers stories are harrowing, inspiring, and current. This documentary is never boring and goes further than what they teach in a high school government class by a long shot. Stacey Abrams story is just a dent in the change needed to stop blatant voter suppression.

I won’t say too much here, the film is packed with so many stories and information on laws and history.

Staying informed is one of the most important pillars of democracy. Pay attention. Don't allow the bullshit. Make your voice heard.

Vote. Vote. Vote!

( I do not rate Documentaries, but I highly encourage any of my US based followers to check this out. It’s available on Prime right now! Get involved and make sure you are registered to vote.)

All In: The Fight for Democracy
What a weird way to talk about Stacey Abrams’ campaign. It was so all over the place. Like pick a topic. It’s either Abrams or voter suppression. Go more into detail on one of these.

I appreciated some of the context, but a lot of it wasn’t anything I hadn’t heard before. It also never got into the structure of the system not working, it literally just suggested that voting is the be all end all solution... which would be true if the electoral college didn’t exist but okay.

I got a free shirt out of seeing this so... two stars (for the shirt)
