New series of free movies: From the Wild West to the Banlieu. The evolution of crime fiction> After “fuori controllo”, the series of free movies of the figure of the Hollywood policeman at the turn of the 60s and 70s, we follow the modern evolution of the archetype of the lawman, who then is not so much a lawman anymore. From the contamination between genres of the brothers With the polar cops, passing through the most recent interpretations of the "dirty cop" to the contemporary police, necessarily social and political. A cinema where interpersonal relationships explode and ethics is forced to reckon with ambition or survival, in a world where the enemy is mythological, if not intangible. Four tough movies, where heroes are forced to deal with themselves. Because the stakes are much higher than an investigation.> ITA REVIEW 🇮🇹Un film intelligente, che prende il meglio dall’esperienza da ex poliziotto di Olivier Marchal, per descrivere questa sfida torbida tra due poliziotti di diversi dipartimenti (rispettivamente interpretati da Depardieù e Auteuil) per catturare una banda di rapinatori per ottenere il posto da capo di polizia di Dussollier. La banda di rapinatori funge da semplice MacGuffin per parlare della polizia parigina e di quanto fosse praticamente un luogo di sotterfugi e menzogne, rispetto che un luogo di giustizia; e forse proprio per questo il film pecca un pochino di sostanza nella gestione di questo aspetto. Ambientato in una parigi quasi noir da cui prende anche il titolo, (infatti “36” è il numero civico della questura parigina) questo film mette in campo questo gioco scorretto tra due uomini, che più di tutti dovrebbero dare l’esempio in quanto figure di legge, portandoli ad avvicinarsi più all’operato dei criminali che a quello degli uomini di giustizia, e abusando del loro potere per raggiungere obiettivi personali. Come detto proprio questo aspetto risulta centrale nel film, ma purtroppo non l’ho trovato totalmente coerente nell’intera visione, peccando delle volte forse di mancanza di senso nelle azioni svolte dai protagonisti. Senza parlare che da Depardieù mi aspettavo molto di meglio, che risulta piatto nelle interazioni (come anche tutti gli altri personaggi) ma sopratutto poco convincente nel ruolo.

ENG REVIEW 🇬🇧An intelligent film, which takes the best from Olivier Marchal’s former police experience, to describe this murky challenge between two policemen from different departments (played by Depardieù and Auteuil, respectively) to catch a gang of robbers to get the job as Dussollier’s police chief. The gang of robbers acts as a simple MacGuffin to talk about the Parisian police and how it was practically a place of subterfuge and lies, respect that a place of justice; and perhaps this is why the film lacks a little substance in handling this aspect. Set in an almost noir Paris from which it also takes the title, (in fact "36" is the street number of the Parisian police) this film brings this unfair game between two men, which more than all should set an example as law figures, bringing them closer to the work of criminals than to that of men of justice, and abusing their power to achieve personal goals. As said just this aspect is central in the film, but unfortunately I did not find it totally consistent in the whole vision, sometimes sinning perhaps lack of sense in the actions carried out by the protagonists. Not to mention that from Depardieù I expected much better, which is flat in interactions (as well as all the other characters) but especially not very convincing in the role.
