This was quite enjoyable honestly. But I'm lowky pissed off because my chair is messed up idek how tbh but anyways this film is talking about love. How love lingers on in the memory. Especially forbidden love, when society doesn't allow you to love the person you genuinely have feelings for so that memory is still left unsaud. That's how it works with Amit and Pooja, their love evolves from youthful tragic love into nostalgia. Also another interesting thing is the idea of destiny in the film, how fate links everyone together, the kids, Amit and Pooja and their respective spouses. Also I found it interesting how they made Pooja marry Vijay due to her family's wishes rather than pursue her own love, it's kind of a more realistic depiction of how love works in Indian society and culture. The film also spans with youthful love, as we see Vicky and Pinky fall in love even their love has problems. The subplot with Vicky finding out she is adopted and she goes on a self discovery to find out who her true parents are and who she is as a person being themes of identity, belonging and emotional truth. Anyways I did low-key enjoy this. One of the more romantic films of the 1970s, especially in a gun toting blood filled, sex driven decade. This film felt more poetic and romantic due to Yash Chopra's wonderful direction. The songs are stunning especially the main one kabhi kabhie mere dil mein which is one of the best romantic songs ever. Also the cast just ate their roles up. Amitabh Bachchan is still as stern and sterling as he is but he has a more romantic and poetic side to his performance in this film. Shashi Kapoor is characteristically your average Indian film hero. Rakhee is again stunning and subtle in this, she seems like a really good actress honestly. Rishi Kapoor is great too, even Neetu Singh is a bit cute. Waheeda Rehman my queen, kinda crazy to think she had come a long way from her early days when she joined Hindi films in the mid 50s and worked with titans such as Guru Dutt, Meena Kumari, Dev Anand, now she was with a new generation such as Amitabh Bachchan. Ofc she would be with the only person who matters Sridevi later on but that's another film to watch!
