this feels more interesting as an artifact than as an actual movie. i get what it’s poking at with the draft anxiety, paranoia, sexual politics but the loose, sketch-like structure mostly just felt unfocused to me. there are flashes of humor and early de palma energy, and it’s fun spotting a young de niro, but a lot of it comes off smug or dated rather than sharp. worth seeing for context, not something i really enjoyed sitting through.

Greetings is just okay, I didn’t find myself laughing at all and tbh I spent the entire movie trying to decide if the acting is bad on purpose or if it was just that bad. The movie tries to be satire and self aware but it didn’t really work for me and this is definitely de palma’s worst film that I’ve seen.
