Okay so I'm officially on a Matthew McConaughey marathon - McConaughey-thon? McC marathon? Whatever we're calling it, it's happening. This time I watched Sahara, and again, zero research, didn't read a single synopsis, just saw his face on the poster and hit play. That's it. That's the strategy
And honestly? The universe was looking out for me with this one because wouldn't you know it - this movie starts with a Civil War sequence. And I literally just watched Free State of Jones before this. Like, back-to-back unintentional Civil War era McConaughey. I'm not even mad about it. It's a vibe
Anyway, the chaos in Sahara? Top tier. My ESTP soul was absolutely thriving - action, gunfights, chases, explosions, all of it. I eat that stuff up. Way better than I expected it to be. And every time I watch this man in something, I'm just more convinced he's legitimately blessed by the acting gods. I'm basically the unofficial ambassador of the Matthew McConaughey fan club at this point, I swear
But can we talk about the opening credits for a second? There's this photo of the captain of the boat with some woman in a bikini, and they literally photoshopped McConaughey's face over hers. I'm not kidding. I saw it and absolutely lost it. Like, full-on losing my mind, couldn't breathe, almost - well, not literally, but close. That moment alone was worth the watch
The whole movie has so many funny moments too. Memes and action mixed together? That's a deadly combo. Honestly such a good time
Anyway, I genuinely recommend this one. And also - y'all need to stop giving movies such low ratings. Seriously. Not everything has to be some three-hour black-and-white Japanese arthouse movie from the 1950s to be good. Touch some grass, lighten up, let movies be fun. This one was fun. Watch it
