it so sensual and beautiful, oh my god... my first Żuławski‘s French film, and it seems to be really very different from his Polish ones. although the chaotic directorial style is always extremely noticeable, but here it opened up for me from the other perspective. probably his most theatrical work, and Sophie Marceau performance here is something I absolutely adore. “My Nights Are More Beautiful Than Your Days”, begins with a stroboscope frenzy of radiating colors, after which we will see the main character Lucas, looking at an x-ray of his brain, and realizes that he doesn’t have long time to live. this already establishes the tone of the film, which is based on contrast. scenes from nightclub and a screaming crowd alternate with views of the melancholic sea in emotional suffocating. and the characters either sink into quiet despair or, seconds later, explode with them rage. > this film explores the tenderness and sensuality that arises between individuals, regardless of circumstances. for the first time, the main characters meet, and start to conflict while sitting in a cafe on a cramped terrace in noisy Paris. a girl wearing glasses with a light support, screams at a 40 year old man with blue eyed eyes. even then, they begin to feel a strange attraction towards each other. despite their understanding of their differences and incompatibility. perhaps they are both interested in one another because of something that isn't have in themselves. they are both doomed people, but for completely different reasons. Lucas does not see his future after the fact of imminent death and treats his life extremely hopeless, and Blanche is too eccentric and naive, which is why she does not pay attention to exploitation by her environment and family, which gradually destroy her personality.> knowing their love won't last, they decide to spend a few nights together. but does it matter when those nights are truly more beautiful than most of their days?> the dialogues' use of poetry, metaphors, open expression of thoughts, and turning characters' feelings inside out left me very hooked.> ‘i came looking for you because you touched by heart’.
