AMAZING!!!

Everything about this film delivers. The color palette is jawdropping, the camera work is great, the gore is deliciously extreme and made me squirm sometimes. And its sleazy as all hell sometimes too.

Tomás' chase scene ate so hard and i was on the edge of my seat. The people saying modern slashers lack chase scenes clearly don't watch enough modern slashers.

The neon color palette like I said is beautiful. The horror genre is like the only genre at the moment that's giving us COLOUR✨️ with film like this, Vicious Fun, Lisa Frankenstein and Slay.

All the eye stuff made me gag (literally) and I mean this in a complimentary way.

The character are paper-thin but still fun and deliver occasional horny shenanigans.

I know the film is obviously partly influenced by the giallo genre, for example with the Killer's costume. The film reminded me more of the Neo Noir and Erotic Thriller films from the 80s like Body Double and After Hours. Especially Body Double, because the score used during the scenes between Goni and Maite reminded me of the main score/theme of Body Double.

This film really needs more widespread recognition!

The Last Matinee
The Last Matinee isn’t a bad film but it has a lot of issues. My biggest issue with the film comes with the ending. There are too many moments where they could have stopped the killer but decide to run away when he’s down. The rest of the film is very average. The characters range from okay to below average. No one is terrible but there is no character that you really care about (although I care about Goni because he is what I want to be (for the most part) XD). The story is incredibly basic but is executed okay for the most part. The ending is where it really falls a part due to a focus on middling characters and dumb choices. The film isn’t without merit though. The gore is really good. The style of the film is also really excellent. The Last Matinee isn’t a great film, but it has enough style to be enjoyable.

This movie is stupid and corny. But also entertaining! Too many movies are too preoccupied with being good nowadays rather than entertaining which is a shame!
It is clear that the creators are well-acquainted with the slasher genre, enough to replicate a typical slasher movie bit by bit. Did they add anything new? Not really. Was I at any point thrilled or intrigued? Neither. Was it meant to satirize the genre? Who knows! Did I chuckle a couple of times with how over-the-top it was? Sure did. And you know this is a win in my books.

the people crave two things: giallo and synths

why are third acts/endings so frequently disappointing
