A harrowing visceral annihilation on every sensory level. Terrifying, tense, and traumatizing, even if very style over substance. Terrific two-act of chaos and destruction that ultimately bleeds into an ending that is a lot less than satisfying. War of the Worlds is a suitably entertaining film with a great first half and a second that plummets in quality. It struggles with its tone, and with its characters at times, but overall this one is a fun sci-fi flick with good performances, and great direction, although the storytelling could be much better.
