In many of my reviews one of the criticisms I often give is “felt a bit long at times.” While I of course love some slower burning films, in general, in my heart of hearts, I guess I kind of want every movie to be paced like this.

It is an insane adrenaline rush . Not a second is wasted. We never see people walking to locations or even down hallways (the one time someone does, she literally teleports to make the shot faster). It is near non stop action. Non stop creativity. And the final action scene is one of my favorites of all time.

A nauseous masterpiece. The better equivalent to excessive gunfights in American action films. Holy Flame of the Martial World bares no sympathy for its characters even though it’s a revenge story. Constantly throwing you into a fight scene filled with people levitating, swords flying and other inanimate objects zooming through the air. It’s fun, it’s headache inducing but afterwards it’s the greatest hangover you’ve ever had.

There are many visible flaws seen in the storytelling, they’re constantly rushing the storyline and barely leave any time to breathe for the characters’ development. But this could be seen as a charm for this film.

The fast paced action is what compliments this film’s flaws so well and helps the majority of the film work. The wacky and cheesy confrontations running along with the fast forwarded fight sequences create a big bang of vibrant and beautiful scenery.

The film’s finale is like a psychedelic gut punch with lots of confusing hand gestures, high flying, and techniques that emit colorful energy lasers. One of the most fun and engaging martial arts movies I've seen in a long time. I give less fucks about the flaws bc the experience alone makes this stand as one of the greatest martial arts films of all time
