It burns kind of bright for the first half hour, but it burns out real quick. It's hardly a story and I really don't understand what it's going for. Right away, where the fuck is this VIP maze? They only ever show us the normal maze, so what's the deal. We even see one character stand on the platform in the middle if the normal maze. The whole thing feels very hastily thrown together and poorly planned. It does try a few times to show that it isn't taking itself too seriously, but all it really accomplishes is to make itself look real goofy. It definitely wasn't as bad as I was prepared for, but was still bad. The effects are okay for a movie of the caliber, but the CGI blood is awful. It reminds me of when Nickelodeon would have a transition where CGI Gak would shoot at the screen, except this time it's red. KidPix has more realistic blood effects. The acting is on par with every other shitty independent horror movie that was made for $40. Also worth noting are the terrible names. Firstly, what the fuck kind of name is Rustin? Secondly, they have a character named Hershal Walker. You know, the exact same name as the Walking Dead character. You can call it an homage, but it feels really on the nose to use such a unique and recognizable name. There aren't really characters, there isn't really a story, and there isn't really much horror, so the best praise I can offer this movie is that it could have been so much worse. There are tons of movies that do this way, way worse, so by comparison, it's not awful....... just really bad.
