Primera película que veo desde el 2004 mas o menos, ver Attack on Titan me tiene totalmente consumido.
Justo elegí la película más depresiva de la historia para ver un sábado a la noche antes de salir, pero bueno, por el cine lo que sea.
Me encantó la dirección, con un estilo medio de video casero que encaja muy bien con el estilo artístico de Meredith; muy original. Y Adrien Brody, genial como siempre, el tipo es la cabra en todo lo que no sea dar discursos.

Production was mediocre at best they obviously tried to make more realistic but it feels more like a lack of polish than a stylistic choice.
They brought more storylines than they tended to finish. Characters got developed off screen. They either deleted lot of scenes or wanted to leave it to viewers imagination. Either way I didn’t like it.
Henry being absolutely terrified to be like his grandfather and also sniffing Erica’s bracelet was very suspicious for me.

Going from Wes Anderson’s Adrien Brody to this, was like going from Boss Baby at 5 years old to Wolf of Wall Street a day later.

On reflection, I've never really given much thought to the impact teachers can have on people, and how they usually don't seem like real people, like they don't exist outside of the school setting, so Detachment was an interesting but depressing insight into the many issues present. The non-linear storytelling, I felt, added an extra depth to the plot, and enhanced the themes of isolation and connection Henry and others struggled with.
The entire cast was excellent, and Adrien Brody definitely proved his acting prowess once again. I really liked the camerawork: the close-ups and shaky shots felt like I was watching a documentary, and made everything seem all the more real, combined with the occasional flashbacks to Henry's childhood. The drab and bleak colour grading juxtaposed the melancholic and understated score, producing a simultaneously calming and saddening atmosphere.

Detachment is a rather heavy film, but I'm glad I watched it and it'll stay with me for a long time.
