a chilling, albeit predictable thriller starring julia roberts in her early acting career. the villain is creepy and creates nice psychological horror as a woman has to escape the abuse, julia roberts as laura the abused woman who portrays her as vulnerable, with major trust issues. this movie can get boring, but it’s thrilling, stressful final act make up for it. definitely a weaker one from julia roberts, as while it was probably progressive for its time, it seems a little dated. it’s just a high-stakes drama, that’s generally an easy watch which is honestly quite fun, but not revolutionary

I first became aware of this film by watching clips of it on tik tok and eventually decided i may as well just watch the whole thing.
The whole damn movie feels like different parts on a Tik Tok bot movie account. Idk if they just had no budget or what but the sheer lack of detail is astounding gelled together with probably 8 an minute montage segment to Brown Eyed Girl and then some other song they danced to. Like at its bare bones there was the potential for a good film, much as Gone Girl has gone on to do but it felt like they decided we as the audience just didn't need to see or even aware of key events and information throughout and so I give 1.5 stars.
Also what was the bad guys voice, the two big male roles had such strange casting choices I felt I don't know either of them
omg ALSO THE FUCKING TOWELS AND THE TINS had me lolling it was so dramatic at the end but also dragged on so long like I get the reference and everything but it's low-key cringe eventually bloody hell
