This was a great film. It's a very sad story overall but its very well done. After watching this I don't think anyone was to blame given the situation. I thought how Tommy stepped up to take care of his brothers family was very sweet and genuine, but I understand given Sam coming home how mentally he was struggling that he didn't know how to process any of what happened but I think the end showed how he's beginning to get better. It's a very sad story, but I think that it showed a reality of men coming home from war struggling deeply with PTSD and how it can affect their families.
I think all three Portman, Maguire, and Gyllenhaal, were great in this not only showing the family dynamic which is real, but also in showing the affects of war on families.
