Unfortunately didn’t match with my expectations. Maybe my expectations were too high I don’t know. It’s original and visually gorgeous as always, but the storyline didn’t really align with me. Compared to his other films, this one feels more distant. The story constantly reminds you that it’s a performance inside a performance, which is an interesting idea, but it also makes it harder to emotionally connect with the characters. It’s still clever, creative, and full of those strange, deadpan conversations Anderson loves. But at the end it left me with the feeling that something was missing.
