Mark Wahlberg is wearing a hat!
Pretty dumb all things considered. Especially the rehearsed “evidence” presentation against Danny Glover that Michale Pena and Mark Wahlberg do there at the end.
This movie only reinforces any criticism levied at Fuqua over the last month—if he makes one kind of movie, it’s divorced-dad-core. And divorced-dad-core of the 2000s and 2010s happens to be one of my favorite genres, so I eat this movie up just like I did when I was a child.
That being said, Fuqua is better than he gets credit for. Training Day is in (or around) my top 10 of all time, and he has several other movies that are perfectly enjoyable, like this. Not everyone needs to be Tarkovsky. I’m still not watching his new Mike Jack movie, though.
