D.H. Lawrence's novella is weirdly important to me as one of the first non-YA, non-horror books that I read outside of assigned school reading as a tween. It's been many, many years since I've read it so its hard to remember if this adaptation is faithful or if the screenplay has its thumb on the scale of the central dilemma by making Banford extra irritating.
Lalo Schifrin's score is top notch and this is also one of my all-time favorite movie posters.
