Cassavetes just knows how to capture something that feels real. I will say I found the second half vastly more interesting as Lynn Carlin’s character I found much more interesting along with her surrounding cast but that isn’t an insult to both John Marley & Gena Rowlands who were also incredible in their roles.

This felt so raw and uncomfortable in a way that almost makes you feel like you shouldn’t be watching it. The performances are incredible, especially because so much of it feels messy and painfully real instead of polished.

I love how chaotic and emotionally exhausting it is. People talking over each other, laughing too loudly, desperately trying to connect while clearly falling apart underneath. It really captures that feeling of loneliness even when surrounded by people. Definitely not an easy watch, but I was completely locked into it.
