joaquin phoenix man, such a brilliant actor, how do you describe him. i mean before watching the movie you have this completely different perception and character sketch of napoleon in you mind. and then comes joaquin and plays a completely different and opposite man and yet it doesn't feel a bit wrong. you really feel that's what napolean would've been like.
ridley scott, you too sir, never stop making movies, your directing is aging like a fine wine man. you gotta be the goat-est grandpa-est director of all time, if there's any category like that.
I always wish to see the actual scale and panning out of historic battle sequence which movies fail to show.
either they punch up too high or they punch too low. no one hits the sweet spot. but this movie does it so well.
the waterloo battle and the first austrian battle both sequences are one of the best I've seen if not the best.
all the production was so good. all the sets, costumes everything even the dialogues— although they were written in english, they still didn't feel out of the place — everything felt the mirror image of the given time.
oversimplified would certainly write the best napolean movie is what I feel.
also vennessa is a top top top actor, you just need a good script.
