A dirty cop character study!
Harrelson really goes for it here! This movie wouldn’t work if he didn’t convince us of Officer Brown’s unlawful and snake-like behavior. Luckily, he’s in every scene and he delivers a compelling blow.
I also appreciated everything on a technical level. Oddly enough the lighting contrast in this was a standout! The naturalist, documentary like camera work also elevates this experience.
Unfortunately all of this needed to be in favor of a tighter screenplay. This kind of movie doesn’t particularly need a plot engine to be good. But there were undeniable moments of poor pacing. I found this to be a bit tedious and repetitive at times.
A decent watch, I just wish the script earned Woody’s performance a lot more.
