I never thought I’d continue this franchise since the first movie made me feel like I had to leave my brain at the door just to get through it. But this one kept getting recommended, so I gave in. Thankfully, I didn’t feel the need to switch my brain off this time, I just had to lower the volume a bit.
Weirdly enough, it makes more sense than the first film, even though it’s still completely unhinged. That said, the worst habit is still there: the movie starts already in chaos. Action kicks off before the film even lets you settle in, and Act 1 feels like it’s over the moment you blink and suddenly everything is flying, screaming, bleeding.
I get the vibe they’re going for, and I mostly enjoyed it, but honestly? Just give us ten minutes. Ten minutes to breathe, to adjust to the madness, to understand the tone before the film grabs you by the collar and refuses to let go.
