Seemingly on a mission to fulfill her sister’s dying wish, Lia sets off to Türkiye to find her niece, a trans woman who’s gone missing, and along the way she becomes a mother/caretaker/friend to a teenage Georgian boy. Following leads and venturing into the unknown, Lia crosses borders, thresholds, and boundaries in search of redemption and connection.
This film is a warm hug, even in the face of discrimination and danger. The ending was a harsh reality check and we’re left with the question of who we would be if our families were to really see us.
