love actually but for thanksgiving!

this was way cuter, funnier, and more progressive than i was expecting. why aren’t we all watching this every year?

Its the Thanksgiving season and I was curious to see what other Thanksgiving movies were out there since it's the neglected holiday and this was pretty good, having diverse family's tackling their own problems and social issues is entertaining, Family dysfunction times 4. But at times it does feel a bit melodramatic. Nonetheless it is a top 3 Thanksgiving movie because I've only seen two others.

It's november!!

Cute little movie, I loved the difference in cultures (esp the latina mom and her teacher bf) but I don't see myself watching it every november like I do with some xmas movies.

I get how it was progressive at the time but a lot of it feels outdated to me and tbh that gun scene REAAAALLY threw me off like I found it to be such an insane tone shift in a bad way and very unnecessary, don't like how they trivialized gun problems like they did (using it for shock value...), plus I wish the sapphics could have gotten a happier ending like everyone else did.... Still laughed a lot though. Another thing if you do plan to watch this movie get snacks because I didn't and was hungry the entire time

Oh how I LOVE a messy, heartfelt family dramedy with interweaving storylines!!!

And oh man do I love Gurinder Chadha. She's such a cool director.

Anyone who knows me even sort of well knows Bend It Like Beckham is one of my all time favorite films. I know all the lines, I listen to the soundtrack constantly, I've spent countless hours scouring the internet for screen accurate clothing pieces identical to the ones Keira Knightley wears in the film, I made my friends watch it while we were in London and go with me to the pub Jules and Jess visit when they go into the city to shop, and if it's MY birthday slumber party and I get to choose the movie?? You better believe we're watching Bend It. I grew up watching (and loving) Bend It Like Beckham and Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging. But it wasn't until I was a bit older that I've gotten to see her lesser known work. She makes such rich, empathetic films about families and culture. A very warm, earnest filmmaker. I hope she makes a million more movies about family and friendship and love.

I also love a Thanksgiving movie. Doing a double feature of this and Pieces of April, following up with Spider-Man for dessert, then tucking into The Daytrippers next day...that could very well be the recipe for a perfect Thanksgiving.

Really cool movie. I love video stores. I love lesbians. I love wiener dogs. I love gorgeous, brilliant, always enchanting actresses, Joan Chen, Alfre Woodard, and Kyra Sedgwick.

Funny to think Thanksgiving 2000 was my first Thanksgiving. I'm just like those little baby twins with the turkey beanie babies fr.

And yeah. Man. I really really really wish I lived in a video store in the year 2000.
