I was intrigued with Aster’s other short film, Beau, and was interested in seeing if any of his other films had some semblance to his features. I could possibly piece together how this might’ve inspired Beau is Afraid, but that might be a stretch.
The still shots matched with the character’s rambling definitely had a positive impact here. It really felt like a PSA that’s talking down to you, and you kinda believe what he’s saying initially until things take a turn.
