rebecca hall carried this hard. the plot was genuinely really good, and honestly way better than i expected going in. i saw the reviews before watching and already assumed it wasnt going to be amazing, but then the story started unfolding and it was just unexpected over unexpected over unexpected. i havent seen a plot move that quickly and still feel that unique in a while. dominic west was a bit of a disappointment though. after seeing him in The Wire, i expected more, and here he just didnt stand out much. maybe it looked worse next to rebecca hall because she was so good, but yeah, he didnt do much for me.
some of the shots were really beautiful too, and they actually complemented the story instead of just looking pretty for no reason. the whole thing felt like it would probably work even better as a book, or maybe the book is better idk. but as a movie it still really worked for me. maybe i went in with low expectations, maybe i havent seen enough similar films, but i thought it was very good.
